Summary
“You’re so much sweeter than Sarcean ever knew.” Will had said too much already, but he kept going— “there’s no need to collar you.”
A moment passed between them, then James said. “You told me to come for you, I did, and I'm still here.”
In that moment, Will realised they weren’t alone. Sarcean was there with them, smiling in that mouthless way of his. More of a cloud or a concept than anything else. He taunted Will by putting thoughts in his head.
You want to possess him just as bad as I do.
In which: Will removes the collar from James neck, expecting James to hate him once it's done. That's not what happens.

The land would be cold and dark if you were gone, he thought desperately, briefly closing his eyes to scatter other images, of empty blue eyes, a body slumped to the ground, precious blood spreading and soaking the sand underneath. “If I’m gone, they’ll execute you as a traitor,” he pressed out, voicing his biggest fear.
He felt Anharion pull from his embrace and he opened his eyes to find him staring back at him. His blue eyes shone fiercely, defiantly, but his voice was trembling with emotion. “And I will follow you into death,” Anharion said thickly, “and I will smile, knowing I’ll see you again.”
