Actually, all of them were. Little shit bastards. Feral goblins. Hellspawn. If it wasn’t Sakura literally changing the landscape of the field underneath Kakashi’s feet, it was Sasuke swinging a sword crackling with lightning, both of them subtly herding him towards Naruto’s hundred shadow-clones, all of which were so fast he could barely track them even with the sharingan.
Kakashi was starting to think his team definitely didn’t have the same problems as the others.

Summary
When a simple C-rank mission turns into a straight-up nightmare, the members of Team Seven narrowly escape with their lives. They end up stuck in the middle of nowhere, each of them injured and forced to rely on one another for help.
They’ve only been a team for a couple of weeks, still distant from one another, still trying hard to prove themselves. But when they’re all hurt and struggling desperately to survive, they have no choice but to lower their walls.
Stranded far away from the village, Team Seven fights to get back home safely – but with help impossibly far away, with their food supplies shrinking and with their injuries slowing them down, their journey becomes more difficult with every step.
In the wake of their struggle, though, their bonds grow steadily stronger.

Definitely gets worse before it gets better, but also is definitely better off than canon timeline of the same period. Really well written characterization all around with actual personal growth for all parties involved! There was action and despair and heart warming moments of bonding; 10/10 will read again.

Summary

As Naruto puts it in this story, Kakashi might be the unluckiest bastard to ever exist. Nothing seems to go right, but Kakashi ends up bonding with Naruto while convalescing in a hole in the ground. All told, the emotional attachment happens quite quickly, but it makes sense within the context of these characters. Lots of Sharingan mind-wiping happens, and Kakashi's injuries are pretty gruesome. Still, there's helpful friends and an optimistic ending.

For all the grammar used to instigate sassiness the fic was quite sweet. Lots of moments of the team being awesome and lovely, and lots of piece of shit bad guys getting caught. This fic is Danny and Steve making plans, the world fucking with those plans, and generally just falling together as they try to keep eachother sane.
