Summary
Mu Qing is dying.
Two years after he almost lost life, limb, and pride at Mount Tonglu, the god of the Southwest is standing face-to-face with his own mortality yet again. But this time, not even the people he cares for can save him from a sick core. He has one year (maybe) and a god's worth of loose ends to tie before the end.
The problem is Feng Xin, who has chosen now, of all the centuries available to him, to finally look back.
Mu Qing has spent eight hundred years making peace with wanting what he couldn't have. He'd gotten very, very good at it. He is considerably less good at it with 12 months left on the clock and Feng Xin's eyes on him like he's something worth keeping.

Mu Qing and Feng Xin met when they were just kids, quickly becoming inseparable best friends who did absolutely everything together. They ended up at the same university, pursuing their dreams as semi-professional swimmers side-by-side.
But after helping each other out right before a big meet, their dynamic completely shifts, and they stumble into a "friends with benefits" arrangement. It was supposed to be strictly practical, just a way to blow off steam and relax before competing. Just two friends who occasionally touched each other, and that definitely didn't make them any less straight.

The solemn, quiet silence that follows is as unsettling as it is unfamiliar. For all the years he has known Feng Xin, he had never thought the man was capable of sitting still and not bark some nonsense. Especially with Mu Qing. Definitely with Mu Qing.
Orrrr, Mu Qing and Feng Xin's relationships whitin the seasons and the years. This is my first fic EVER so like, its going to suck a little bit keep that in mind. English isnt my first language but i say that as a threat
